Getting Started with Exódus® Web3 Wallet — Exódus® Browser
Install, secure, and use the Exódus® Browser extension to interact with dApps and manage tokens
This guide introduces the Exódus® Web3 Wallet (Exódus® Browser extension), showing how to install the extension, create or restore a wallet, secure your recovery seed, connect to decentralized apps (dApps), and follow essential privacy and safety practices.
Before you begin
Only install the Exódus® Browser extension from the official source (browser extension store link on the official Exódus® website).
Prepare a secure place to write down your 12–24 word recovery seed (offline paper or metal backup).
Use a dedicated password manager for any passwords; avoid storing seeds digitally or in screenshots.
Tip: if in doubt, visit the official Exódus® website and follow the download links there. Verify domain spelling and HTTPS before installing.
Installing the Exódus® Browser extension
Open your browser's extension/add-on store (Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, Edge Add-ons, etc.).
Search for "Exódus® Wallet" or navigate from the official site and click "Add to browser".
Review requested permissions — typical permissions include access to connect to websites and read site data for transaction signing.
After installation, pin the extension to your toolbar and open it to start setup.
Create or restore a wallet
On first run, choose whether to create a new wallet or restore from an existing recovery seed.
Create new: generate a fresh recovery seed (write it down immediately).
Restore: enter your existing 12/24-word seed phrase carefully — check word order and spelling.
Set a strong, unique password to lock the extension locally (this protects the extension UI on your machine, but not the seed itself).
Important: the recovery seed is the only way to restore funds if your device or browser profile is lost. Never share it.
Basic wallet operations
Receive: copy your address from the extension and verify it on the receiving platform before sending funds.
Send: paste the recipient address and confirm all details. Double-check the address and amount before confirming.
Swap: many wallets include token swap features; review rates, fees, and slippage before confirming.
Connect to dApps: approve only trusted sites; check the URL and permissions requested by the dApp.
Security & privacy best practices
Keep your browser and operating system updated to reduce attack surface.
Use the extension password and enable hardware wallet integration if available.
Isolate large funds in cold storage (hardware wallets) and use hot wallets for small, active balances.
Avoid connecting to a dApp that requests signature approval for arbitrary messages unless you understand why.
If you receive an unsolicited signature request, do not approve it. Attackers sometimes use approvals to drain tokens via smart contracts.

Troubleshooting & support
Extension not visible? Check your browser's extension menu and pin the extension to the toolbar.
Can't restore seed? Verify word order, language, and spacing; try again on a secure, offline device.
Suspect compromise? Move remaining funds to a new wallet with a new seed and scan your system for malware.
